More About me

Here are some random and non-random things about me that give a well-rounded impression of who I am:

My Upbringing:

  1. I was born in a small town in the Central Coast of California.

  2. My parents immigrated to the US from Mexico.

  3. My first language was Spanish.

  4. I have an older sister and two younger brothers.

  5. I have 14 aunts/uncles, about 50 cousins, and likely over 500 second cousins.

  6. Music was a big part of my upbringing.

  7. While I craved academic accolades in my youth, social experiences and building connections with people was always more important to me.

  8. I grew up thinking that I needed to be an obedient good girl in order to live a happy life.

  9. Growing up, I had no agency/autonomy/say over myself or my body... my mother did.

  10. Growing up I learned that I needed to betray my own boundaries in order to be loved.

Young Adult Life:

  1. My social life was MY LIFE; always surrounded by others. I couldn't fathom the idea of spending a day or an evening alone.

  2. Drinking alcohol was my poison of choice; I got drunk a lot as it was my coping mechanism.

  3. I moved to LA to go to college as I NEEDED to get out of my home to experience the freedom I never felt.

  4. I focused so much on my social life that I ended up flunking out of college (I learned in my late 20's that I had ADD and was a big reason for me flunking out).

    1. Was ashamed about this for many years.

  5. Had my first boyfriend who turned out to be an unfaithful liar, only confirming my limiting belief that I am not unconditionally lovable.

  6. Started my career in the music industry, working for Universal Music in Los Angeles.

  7. When I was 24, I felt a strong calling to move to Miami... so 4 months later, I moved to South Beach, having managed to get transferred from the LA office of Universal Music to the Miami office.

  8. When I was 28, I was told our Miami office would close, and if I wanted to continue working with them I had to move to LA within 3 weeks, with a promotion...I was devastated as I didn't want to move back to LA and really really wanted to move to New York.

  9. Shortly after turning 29, I had the biggest epiphany of my life: While reading a book  at the park during lunch, I heard a clear message... I needed to save money, quit my job, and travel the world. Nothing ever felt so clear in my life; no doubts, no fears.

  10. Nine months later, I quit my job, and started my year long world travels.

  11. My world travels taught me more about myself and life than I would have ever imagined.

  12. Traveling to India was one of my fondest and most memorable experiences. Tanzania was the most serendipitous experience.

  13. On the 3rd month of my travels, I spontaneously visited Berlin, only to fall in love with it within 4 days and have another major epiphany of my life: it felt like home and knew that I would move to Berlin after my travels.

My 30s:

  1. Called Berlin home in 2012.

  2. Got more interested in spirituality and personal development.

  3. Did a personal development training that eventually lead me to do a coaching training.

  4. My system started rejecting the high amounts of alcohol I'd drink... thanks to all of the healing and transformational work I was doing.

  5. I had my first memory of one of my past lives.

  6. I had to get out of energetic and dysfunctional entanglements from my parents that were severely impacting my life.

  7. Accepted the fact that I would never feel the love & bond I yearned from my mother.

  8. Fulfilled my dream of doing a TEDx talk (in Berlin). Link here (though the audio is quite unpleasant).

  9.
